August 6, 1941 – October 17, 2025
Myles Nugent, 84, passed away peacefully on October 17, 2025, in Sun City West, Arizona. Born on August 6, 1941, in Chicago, Illinois, Myles lived a full and passionate life marked by dedication to family, community, and the many interests that brought him joy. He was known for his meticulous nature, quiet patience, and a deep love for the open road—whether on two wheels or four.
A lifelong motorcycle and car enthusiast, Myles found freedom and peace behind the handlebars and under the hood. Myles’s commitment to an active lifestyle was exemplified by his love of pickleball. In the early 2000s, he was instrumental in introducing and promoting the sport in his former hometown of Niles, Michigan, helping to build a thriving pickleball community that continues to this day.
He is survived by his loving wife, Elva (Vitums) Nugent; his children, Derek Nugent and Jennifer (Jackson) Grismer, from his first marriage to Cynthia Nugent; and his stepchildren, Alan Vitums and Angela Vitums. Along with eight grandchildren. He also leaves behind his siblings Bertha Desas, Martin Nugent, and Theresa Korn. Myles was preceded in death by his brothers, Paul Nugent and Donald Nugent.
He will be remembered not only for his passions and achievements but for the quiet strength, care, and steadiness he brought to the lives of those who knew and loved him.
In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Tunnels to Towers or the Arizona Classic Thunderbird Club in Myles Nugent’s name. Myles will be buried in the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona (2929 E Pinnacle Peak Rd. Phoenix, AZ 85024) at a date to be determined.
