Buchanan earns 46-6 Senior Night win over Muskegon Catholic

BUCHANAN — The Buchanan football team ended the regular season Friday night in winning fashion.
The Bucks closed their regular season with a dominant 46-6 Senior Night victory over Muskegon Catholic Central and will begin postseason play with a 6-3 record.
Buchanan turned in a strong performance in all phases of the game, outgaining Muskegon Catholic Central in total yards 306-91. The Bucks’ rushing attack earned 261 yards while the defense held the Crusaders to just 91 net rushing yards and zero passing yards.
Max Cornelius led the rushing attack with 131 yards and one touchdown on 13 carries and Ryan Hickok rushed for 60 yards and one touchdown on seven carries while Owen Thompson scored on a 12-yard run. Quarterback Cy Carlin completed 4 of 6 passes for 45 yards and threw one touchdown. Brody Reed was the leading receiver, catching two passes for 28 yards, including a 25-yard touchdown pass from Carlin.
The Bucks scored two non-offensive touchdowns in the first half, with JonTel Williams-Bruton returning a kickoff 65 yards for a touchdown and Brody Reed returning a punt 72 yards for a touchdown.
Buchanan will learn its postseason opponent at 5 p.m. Sunday on the “Selection Sunday Show” on the NFHS Network. A subscription is not required to watch the Selection Sunday Show.
The playoff qualifiers and pairings will be posted to the MHSAA Website following the Selection Sunday Show, and times and dates will be added Monday, Oct. 27.
The MHSAA Football Playoffs conclude with the 11-Player Finals to be played Nov. 28 and 30 at Ford Field.
