SOUTH BEND, Ind. — The No. 21 Notre Dame Fighting Irish defeated the Boise State Broncos 28-7 on Saturday. The victory, which marked the first time the two teams have ever played, improved the Irish’s record to 3-2.

The Irish victory was driven by a strong rushing attack and a dominant defensive effort that forced four turnovers. Quarterback CJ Carr completed 15 of 23 passes for 189 yards and threw touchdown passes to Will Pauling and Malachi Fields.
The Irish offense rushed for a total of 200 yards. Running back Jeremiyah Love gained 103 yards and scored a 4-yard touchdown run. Jadarian Price added 83 rushing yards, highlighted by a 49-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter that sealed the victory.

The Notre Dame defense intercepted Boise State quarterback Maddux Madsen four times. Leonard Moore led the turnover effort with two interceptions in his return from injury. Tae Johnson and Luke Talich each added one interception. Boise State’s lone touchdown came on a 1-yard run by Madsen in the second quarter.

Despite a high number of penalties for both teams – Notre Dame committed 11 for 112 yards and Boise State committed 13 for 112 yards – the Irish controlled the game with a plus-four turnover margin.
