Dowagiac shuts down Brandywine 68-0

DOWAGIAC — The Dowagiac football team spoiled Brandywine’s homecoming with a 68-0 road victory Friday night.

The Chieftains rushed for 378 yards while adding 26 yards through the air. Dowagiac scored a total of nine touchdowns in the game and led 46-0 at halftime. 

“We started off  slow in the first quarter but we shook it off and found our brand of football late in the first,” said head coach Duane Davis. “This was a great team win because everyone was involved and had some impact.”

Tim Masterman (22 and 38 yards) and Quentin Hill (25 and 75 yards) had two touchdown runs and Cameron White (four yards), Devin Rock (31 yards), Dionte Calloway (1 yard), Skyler Vincek (40 yards) and Isaiah Weatherspoon (28 yards) added touchdown runs.

Vincek completed 2 of 4 passes for 24 yards. 

The Dowagiac defense put up a stout performance, holding the Brandywine offense to -11 rushing yards and 40 passing yards. The Chieftains’ defense also forced three Brandywine interceptions hauled in by Cooper Szymcek, Rock and Calloway. White forced a fumble and Hill recovered a fumble.

Dowagiac (4-1,2-0) hosts Berrien Springs (3-1,0-1) Friday in a key Lakeland Conference matchup.
