SOUTH BEND, Ind. — Notre Dame overcame a lengthy rain delay to defeat interstate foe Purdue 56-30.
The Irish offense was efficient, racking up a total of 535 yards compared to Purdue’s 379. The rushing game was effective, with Notre Dame gaining 254 yards on the ground while holding Purdue to just 76.
Jeremiyah Love led the rushing attack with 157 yards and two touchdowns on 19 carries and Jadarian Price totaling 74 yards and three touchdowns on nine carries while also scoring a 100-yard kick return touchdown. Quarterback CJ Carr completed 10 of 12 passes for 223 yards and two touchdowns without an interception. Key receiving targets included Jordan Faison with five receptions for 105 yards and a touchdown, and Malachi Fields, who had two receptions for 78 yards and a touchdown.
Purdue’s offense was led by quarterback Ryan Browne, who completed 21 of 34 passes for 250 yards with one touchdown and one interception. The team’s leading receivers were Nitro Tuggle, who had three catches for 66 yards and a touchdown, and MMichael Jackson III, who caught four passes for 62 yards.
Running back Devin Mockobee had seven receptions for 56 yards and a 14-yard touchdown pass to Browne. On the ground, Purdue struggled to find momentum, with their leading rusher Malachi Singleton gaining 26 yards on five attempts. The Boilermakers were also hampered by penalties, committing seven for 75 yards, while Notre Dame had three for 30 yards.
