WATERVLIET — The Brandywine football team dropped a 32-31 heartbreaker to Watervliet Friday night on the road.

Down by two scores twice, the Bobcats were able to rally back and force turnovers at key moments to give them chances to win the game. Quarterback Kaeden Warfield scored four touchdowns and Nylan Goins and Tanner Inman each had one touchdown.

While Brandywine Head Coach Jeff Miller said the team ultimately “left too many plays on the field to win the game,” he said the players’ emotional response to the loss was “incredibly encouraging.”

“When you invest and come up just short, it hurts,” he said. “But the fact they’re investing in it means we will continue to improve. We need to keep being everyday guys and get more consistent. We could not be more proud of our kids and how they represented Brandywine.”

Brandywine (0-2) hosts Saugatuck (1-1) at 7 p.m. Friday.
