Edwardsburg 3-0 at Dowagiac quad

EDWARDSBURG — The Eddies went 3-0 at the Dowagiac Quad on Tuesday, improving their overall record to 9-0.

The team defeated St. Joe 25-22, 25-18; Dowagiac 25-9,25-12; South Haven 25-13, 25-17.

Sarah Pippin and Ella Laskowski were the offensive leaders with 26 kills each. Mya Eberlein contributed 10 kills and a team-high eight blocks. Other key contributors included Shelby Laubach with three kills and Kya Shier with two kills and three aces.

Rylie Rosenkrantz led the team with 58 assists, while Erin Solarek added five. Defensively, Sophiah Kuntz led with 14 digs and three aces. Arden Sponsky added nine digs.

In addition to its loss to Edwardsburg, Dowagiac fell to South Haven 22-25, 25-17,19-25 and St. Joseph 16-25, 17-25.

“Tonight was not our night, we struggled in all areas,” said Dowagiac coach Amber Todd. “Our communication and team comradery were selective. There were spurts of great moments and then other moments to where we fell apart. As a whole we agreed that we need to be consistent as a team in order to finish a set of 25 points.”

Offensively, Marlie Carpenter and Tessa Deering led the team with 10 kills each. They were followed by Ava Nate, who had seven kills, and Brianna Campbell with five.

Hanah McCuddy and Claire Hess each recorded 18 assists. At the service line, Hess led with six aces.

On defense, Zabrina Shivers recorded a team-high 18 digs, while Hess contributed 13 digs, and McCuddy and Deering each had 11. Ava Nate and Brianna Campbell were the leaders in blocks, with four each.

Buchanan swept by South Bend St. Joseph

SOUTH BEND — The Buchanan volleyball team lost to South Bend St. Joseph in three sets on Tuesday 18-25, 19-25, 22-25.

Gabby Carson led the team with nine kills and two assisted blocks. Kenzie Boller contributed eight kills, while Kate Holloway added six.

Defensively, Emily Holt and Haylee Legault each had 12 digs and Legault also recorded two aces. Other key contributors on defense included Ella Fanslow with 10 digs and Finley Kehoe with nine digs.

Morgan Weldy led the Bucks in assists with 28.

The loss brings Buchanan’s overall record to 4-3.

Boys soccer

Edwardsburg 8, Sturgis 0

The Edwardsburg boys soccer team shut out Sturgis 8-0 on Wednesday at home, bringing their season record to 6-1-0 and their Wolverine Conference record to 1-0-0.

Mobius Stubblefield scored three times for the Eddies and Maverick Gates twice. Stubblefield’s first goal was assisted by Aleck Rodriguez, who had three assists in the game, while his second was unassisted and third was assisted by Brayden Fischer. Gates’ two goals were both assisted by Fischer, who also scored a goal himself with an assist from Landon Goetz.

Jon Pepper and Austin Leak each added a goal. Leak and Pepper’s goals were assisted by Rodriguez.

Buchanan 5, Brandywine 1

The Bucks overpowered the Bobcats Wednesday night. Jacob Kuntz scored two goals for the Bucks and Nico Sanchez, Easton May and Ben Bosse also found the back of the net for Buchanan.
