NILES — The Michigan Department of Transportation and Anlaan Corp. will begin work next week on a $3.6 million investment on the Niles-Buchanan Road bridge over US-31 in Berrien County.

Planned work will begin Tuesday, July 8 with an estimated end date of Friday, Nov. 7 and includes bridge repairs, epoxy overlay, pin and hanger replacement, joint replacement, painting, pressure relief joints, silane treatment, substructure horizontal sealer and approach replacement. Organizers believe the project will repair and preserve the bridge, extending its service life and improving safety.

Drivers can expect single-lane closures and traffic shifts. Based on economic modeling, this investment is expected to directly and indirectly support 34 jobs.
