NILES — A local business that has served the community for decades aims to better serve the needs of its customers with its fresh, modern makeover.

Community members, partners, and friends gathered at the Niles Fifth Third Bank Tuesday to celebrate its transformation into a Next Gen Financial Center. The center’s open design aims to make it easy for customers to get quick digital service or discuss more complex banking products, like college savings plans, mortgages or retirement solutions.

The new, streamlined building features flexible meeting and seating areas that offer adjustable layers of privacy. The branch also has a smart ATM where customers can choose the denomination of bills they would like as well as a tech wall with a digital screen focused on customer financial education.

“This is a customer-centric approach to banking,” Ospina said. “Our bankers are mobile and using technology that allows them to meet and serve customers in a variety of settings. Rather than having teller windows, the new space gives employees the freedom to move around the lobby. Tablet devices encourage the more direct and personal way of serving customers and we have flexible meeting and seating areas. As you can see with layers of privacy that can adjust depending on how and where the customer chooses to have a conversation with all of us.”

Fifth Third Bank’s Broadway location opened its doors in 1970. Niles Mayor Nick Shelton was on hand to share his enthusiasm for the revamped bank.

It’s always so exciting to see investment and innovation right here in Niles and Fifth Third has been such an amazing partner in our community for 55 years,” he said. “We’re just really excited to see your continued commitment in action and by creating a space like this, it just continues to strengthen the connection in our community that makes Niles a great place to live and do business.”
