DOWAGIAC — Dowagiac Mayor Don Lyons has officially announced his intent to run for his eighth term.
In a Thursday press release, Lyons stated he will kick off his re-election campaign this Saturday at the Cass County PrideFest. Lyons was first elected mayor of Dowagiac in 1997, and has held the seat each election since.
“PrideFest, with its message of inclusivity and diversity, serves as the perfect platform to announce my candidacy for my 8th term as Mayor of Dowagiac,” Lyons stated. “The challenges we all face in today’s fast changing and confusing world will test its leadership as never before. I believe I am that experienced and proven leader who has continually demonstrated, not only my commitment to Dowagiac, but my ability to overcome those challenges and make Dowagiac a better place for everyone. I’m looking forward to four more years as your mayor.”
Lyons will have a booth at PrideFest to answer questions that residents have about his campaign and issues important to the success of Dowagiac. For more information, email lyonsformayor2025@gmail.com.
