ALLEN PARK — A Niles teen recently had the opportunity to compete against some of the nation’s best young bowlers.

Conner Weston, 19, competed in the U22 Masters Bowling Tournament May 23-26 in Allen Park. The U22 Masters is a national four-day bowling tournament where 160 athletes –ages 18-22 – from all over the country bowl on the official PBA Masters oil pattern. The tournament is held in exactly the same format as the PBA pros bowl. The first two days were the qualifying days where Weston took the final qualifying spot in the top 32. The MBT uses a step ladder format where Weston, seeded at 32, had to take on the Hawaii’s Nate Trentler, the no. 1 seed.

While Weston battled, he was eventually defeated by Trentler. The winner of the tournament was defending champion Brandon Bohn, son of famous PBA pro Parker Bohn. This was the second year the U22 Masters has been held it’s the replacement tournament for the Junior Gold U20 Division.

Weston is in his fifth year of bowling and is a right-handed, two-handed bowler. Weston bowled for the Niles Vikings in high school and currently is a collegiate bowler for Davenport University where he just finished his first year with a 4.0 GPA. He enjoys college bowling and how it takes him all over the US even to Las Vegas where his team dominated this year.
