Buchanan softball sweeps South Haven

SOUTH HAVEN — Buchanan was able to sweep host South Haven 1-0 and 7-2 in non-league softball action Friday.
In the first game, A Mailey Ely triple drove in a third-inning Terynn Heller run that proved to be the game-winner. Ely, Caitlyn Horvath (triple), Cameron Carlson, Haylee Legualt and Lea Atkinson (double) tallied hits for the Bucks. On the mound, Legualt struck out two batters and five hits in seven innings.
In game two, Horvath led the way with four hits – including a double – and Ely hhad three hits and two RBIs while Atkinson added two hits and two RBIs. Aspen Berry had two hits and an RBI, Julia Prenkert tallied one hit and one RBI, Legualt had one hit and Singleton added an RBI.
Horvath got the win on the mound, striking out two batters while surrendering six hits and two earned runs.
Buchanan faces Brandywine at noon Saturday in the Division 3 district semifinals at Buchanan High School.
