Brady Frederick Chaffee Jr., 68, of Vandalia, died May 18, 2025 with family by his side.

His life began April 16, 1957 in Three Rivers, the fifth of eight children born to Brady Sr. and Harriette Chaffee.

Brady lived a simple life and was a simple man. He grew up and went to school in Constantine. When he was young, he enjoyed hunting with his brothers and teasing his sisters. Brady loved his community and was always helpful. He would give sweet corn and the chicken he raised to his neighbors and friends. He maintained the property and raised his own animals at Wildcat Ranch in Marcellus. Brady enjoyed hard work and raising animals. He farmed and was well known as a fabricator and welder, repairing farm equipment. Brady was a prankster and loved to get under people’s skin. That was his way of showing love. Brady was always there for his family and friends if they were in need.

Brady will be greatly missed by family and friends. He is survived by one daughter, Christina Farnsworth of Lagrange two sons, Robert (Shannon) Chaffee of Gillette Wyoming, Kevin Chaffee of Vandalia; ten grandchildren; four great grandchildren; three sisters, Judy (Pat) Malone, Theresa (Ken) Blazier, Cathy Sherck; one brother, Dale (Terri) Chaffee and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, two brothers and his daughter, Bernita May Chaffee. The family will observe a private remembrance.
