April 28, 1966 – May 7, 2025
Jeffery Owen Wright, 59, of Edwardsburg, died unexpectedly, May 7, 2025 after a short illness.
His life began April 28, 1966 in Dowagiac MI, the first of two children born to Owen and Sharon Wright. He married Laurie Johnson August 18, 2018 in Edwardsburg.
Jeff graduated from Edwardsburg High school in 1984, where he played football, soccer and wrestled. He then attended Butler University Indianapolis, as a pre-med student. Jeff worked for John Wright & Sons, his multi generation family’s business, from the age of twelve. He started Ozinga in 2007, where worked as a concrete truck driver. In his younger years he enjoyed attending NASCAR races. Jeff loved sports, especially, Detroit Red Wings, University of Michigan and lately followed the Detroit Lions. He made Laurie and Jack pick a Big Ten Team to follow; together, they avidly followed basketball and football. Jeff started snowmobiling as a kid, and continued to enjoy it through the rest of his life. He was a die-hard Arctic Cat fanatic. He also enjoyed riding his quad and kayaking in Baldwin, Michigan. When he had the opportunity, he worked on his and Laurie’s retirement project, their home in Wellston. Cooking was one of Jeff’s favorite hobbies. He would often make food and take it over to his Ozinga brothers. In his words, food, cooking, and eating had always been at the top of his list.
Jeff will be greatly missed by family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Laurie Wright of Edwardsburg; step-son, Jack Nehl; father, Owen Wright of Edwardsburg; one sister, Stephanie Wright of Edwardsburg; two nephews, Ryan Wright and Stephan Wright, both of Edwardsburg. He was preceded in death by his mother, Sharon Wright.
