Brandywine baseball wins second-straight Lakeland Conference title

DOWAGIAC — The Brandywine baseball team improved to 12-7  Tuesday with a sweep of host Dowagiac to win another Lakeland Conference championship.

The win gives the Bobcats (7-1 LAC) their second-consecutive LC title.

Tuesday night, Brandywine defeated Dowagiac 9-3 in the opening game as Hudson Aalfs and Emerson Gogley combined on a five-hitter with nine strikeouts. Kaleb Smith struck out five batters and gave up four hits and one earned run for Dowagiac.

The Bobcats had seven hits against the Chieftains, including three each by Kaeden Warfield and Ryder Richard. Richard tripled and drove in a run. Chase Frazier had two hits to lead the Chieftains

In the nightcap, Brandywine blew out Dowagiac 2-0 in a seven-inning contest.

Richaard tossed a two-hitter with 11 strikeouts for the victory and Wimberley four hits and six strikeouts in the loss. Richard also drove in the deciding two runs in the third inning. Caiden Freeman and Jamal Williams had Dowagiac’s two hits.

The Bobcats had four hits, all singles.
