The National Weather Service of Northern Indiana has issued a Special Weather Statement for Cass, St. Joseph, Branch, Hillsdale and Berrien counties until 8 p.m. for cold air funnels.
In any showers or storms that develop, a cold air funnel is possible. While they may appear threatening, cold air funnels are generally harmless and should not touch the ground. On the very rare occasion one does touch the ground, a Tornado Warning will be issued.
Cold air funnels are usually tough to detect on radar as there may not be a lot of rotation.
