CASS COUNTY — The Cass County Board of Commissioners will hold a Special Meeting, open to the public, to conduct the first round of interviews for the next Cass County Administrator on Thursday, May 1.

Throughout the day Thursday, the board will interview three candidates selected by the Administrator Search Ad Hoc Committee, a committee of county leaders appointed by the Board of Commissioners. To facilitate the search, the committee and board partnered with Michigan Leadership Institute, a not-for-profit search firm specializing in hiring county administrators and school superintendents.

The committee selected the candidates for interview based on a job description and hiring process approved by the Board of Commissioners.

Interviews will be approximately one hour each on Thursday, May, with a tentative schedule as follows:

  • 10 a.m. — Michael D. Belsky
  • 11 a.m. — Kipling C. Belcher
  • 1 p.m. — Patrick S. Jordan

Candidates’ application materials will be attached to the Special Meeting Agenda packet available on the County’s website. The interviews will also be live streamed on the Cass County YouTube channel.

After interviews are completed, the board will have the option to move up to two candidates forward for a second round of interviews. If they choose to do so, the Board of Commissioners will hold a Special Meeting, open to the public, for second interviews on Thursday, May 15. A tentative schedule is as follows:

  • Noon to 1 p.m. — Public Meet and greet with Candidate 1
  • 1 p.m. — Second interview with Candidate 1
  • 2:30-3:30 p.m. — Public Meet and greet with Candidate 2
  • 3:30 p.m. — Second interview with Candidate 2

This schedule is contingent upon the board’s decision after first-round interviews. Once a schedule is confirmed, the County website will be updated, and the media will be notified.

All interviews will take place in Commissioners Chambers, on the third floor of the Cass County Historic Courthouse Administration Building, 120 N. Broadway, Cassopolis. All meetings are open to the public.
