BUCHANAN — A popular downtown Buchanan restaurant is reopening for business after storm-related damage shut their doors for close to three weeks.
Thistledown & Row, 103 Days Ave., Buchanan, will open up at 4 p.m. Thursday after sustaining damage from a storm system that rolled through Michiana March 30. The storm removed large portions of the roof from the historic building, which led to water coming into the building. After weeks of hard work by staff and volunteers alike, the necessary repairs were made to allow the restaurant to make its awaited return.
“A huge thank you to everyone who has reached out in the past few weeks and who has offered sympathy or help,” the restaurant posted on its Facebook page. “The outpouring of love from the community has truly been so wonderful and inspiring, and we are so thankful to each and every one of you.”
The restaurant features a mix of modern and classic menu favorites, utilizing local, in-season ingredients from its sister company, Flatwater Farms, an organic farm located in the Buchanan and Niles Townships. Organic craft ciders and meads brewed using Michigan apples and honey as well as other locally-sourced ingredients will be served on draft alongside Michigan wines and hand-crafted non-alcoholic beverages.
