BUCHANAN CHARTER TOWNSHIP – Buchanan Charter Township Supervisor Malinda Cole-Crocker has been elected second vice president of the Michigan Townships Association.
Cole-Crocker was elected to the position helping to lead Michigan’s largest municipal association by her township peers at MTA’s 2025 Annual Educational Conference & Expo, held March 31-April in Grand Rapids. MTA represents more than 99 percent of Michigan’s 1,240 townships, including more than 6,500 elected township officials and thousands more appointed township officials and personnel.
Cole-Crocker first joined the MTA Board of Directors in 2017, and represents MTA District 22, which encompasses Berrien, Cass and Van Buren Counties. She has been township supervisor since 2014, and its assessor since 2020.
Just as Cole-Crocker takes great pride in being part of a township team that provides resources and guidance to the community and its residents, she is also proud of the resources that MTA provides to its member townships and their leaders. In her leadership role with the Association, she hopes to “confidently accept challenges presented to townships and help provide the knowledge to deal with those challenges, and ensure that MTA continues to be the best resource for all things townships,” she said.
A Michigan advanced assessing officer, Cole-Crocker is president of the Berrien County Assessors Association. She is a graduate of MTA’s Township Governance Academy, and also serves as a board member and finance committee chair of the Southeast Berrien County Landfill Authority and vice chair on the County Heritage Credit Union board. In addition, Cole-Crocker is a board member on the Buchanan Area Chamber of Commerce and Buchanan Joint Water Sewer Board.
