NILES — Elaine Murphy, a 2024 graduate of Niles High School, has signed her NJCAA Letter of Intent to compete in track and field for Head Coach Zac Sartori and the Roadrunners.

“Elaine’s work ethic is amazing. She is a leader and very caring for others,” said SMC Assistant Coach Andre Love, who coached Murphy while both were at Niles. “In my time coaching her, I’ve seen her growth and maturity. It is an honor to still have the opportunity to coach and mentor her as she rises to the next level in academics and athletics.”

“Elaine shows a lot of promise as a sprinter and I’m excited she’ll be joining the Roadrunners,” Sartori added. “I know that she’s worked with Coach Love in the past and I’m confident she’ll become an asset to the program.”

Murphy is the fourth member of the 2025 SMC Women’s Track and Field recruiting class, joining Izabel Hoskin of Niles, Savannah Mullins from Hartford and Dayne Cuvo of Constantine. At least six other student-athletes will compete in both women’s cross country and women’s track for the Roadrunners.

In April 2024, SMC’s Board of Trustees unanimously approved the addition of Women’s Wrestling, Men’s Track & Field and Women’s Track & Field as official NJCAA sports, to start competition in Fall 2025. This expansion will bring the number of NJCAA teams at SMC to nine, plus multiple club and E-sports opportunities.

Student-athletes interested in competing in men’s or women’s track and field or any other sport as a Roadrunner should complete the Recruiting Form at https://smcroadrunners.com/landing/index.
