NILES — A Niles pastor will be celebrating a milestone this week.
Fletcher E. McAfee will be honored this week for 50 years of pastoring at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Niles. The celebration will cualminate on Sunday, April 13 at New Bethel Baptist Church, 2272 Townline Rd., Benton Harbor.
Pastor McAfee has spent the last five decades serving as a spiritual shepherd to generations, known for his powerful preaching, unwavering faith and compassionate leadership. Beyond the pulpit, Pastor McAfee and his family were actively involved in the Civil Rights Movement, participating in marches and protests that helped reshape local communities and advance justice and equality. A devoted community activist, he has tirelessly worked to uplift the lives of others through both spiritual and social action.
In addition to his pastoral and civil rights work, Pastor McAfee is the founder of McAfee Construction, a general contracting company that has served the region for many years.
Festivities began Saturday, April 6, with a week of celebration that will highlight his contributions to faith, community, and civil service. The grand culmination will take place on April 13 at New Bethel Baptist Church, where friends, family, congregants, and community members will gather to celebrate his legacy.
