Elijah Lee Harris, Sr., 68, of Cassopolis, died Thursday, March 13, 2025.

His life began May 26, 1956 in Chicago, Illinois the oldest of eight born to Otis and Mattie Alexander.

Elijah cherished his momma, family, and friends. He was a people person through and through. He enjoyed helping people any possible way he could. He was a very smart man and had a vast depth of knowledge. He could talk to you for hours and will be remembered for his stories. He was an avid reader and enjoyed fishing. He loved the children of the community and would look for ways to invest in them. Elijah was passionate about comic books and shared that love with his grandchildren.

Elijah will be greatly missed by family and friends. He is survived by his mother, Mattie Alexander of Cassopolis; daughter, Tamica (Renaldo Florence) Harris-Florence of Cassopolis; son, Elijah “EJ” (Casey) Harris, Jr. of Cassopolis; grandchildren, Braydin Collins, NeaMyah Harris-Florence, NaDyah Harris-Florence, NaRayah Harris-Florence, Renaldo Florence III, Lyonel Chandler, Lachlan Traylor, several chosen grandchildren; great granddaughter, Thea; sister, Patricia Harris-Curry of Cassopolis; brothers, Esaw (Marilyn) Harris of South Bend, Indiana, Gerald (Annabelle) Harris of Cassopolis, Richard (Teresa) Harris of Niles, Anthony Harris of Cassopolis, Otis (Doricia) Alexander of Elkhart, Indiana, Alfred Alexander of Cassopolis; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father; his grandmother, Charlotte Harris; and one of his favorite aunts, Grace Howard.

Family and friends will gather Saturday, March 22, 2025 from 3:30 pm until time of service at 4:00 pm in the House of Prayer Church, 63563 Brick Church Road, Cassopolis, Michigan 49031.
