Alice Diane (Simonson) Brown, a woman filled with love and faith, passed away on February 14, 2025, in Niles, Michigan, at the age of 81. Born on April 16, 1943, in Joliet, Illinois to the late Richard and Alice (Johnson) Simonson, Alice’s life was a testament to the power of kindness and devotion.
Alice’s journey began as a bright-eyed girl in Joliet, where she thrived in her studies and graduated from high school, laying the foundation for her lifelong pursuit of knowledge and personal growth. She married the love of her life, Ronald Brown, on August 3, 1963 and together they embarked on a life filled with joy, challenges, and unwavering partnership recently celebrating 61 years of marriage.
As a mother and pastor’s wife, Alice poured her heart into caring for her children and serving her community. For over 15 years, she stood by her husband’s side at Belmont Bible Church in Downers Grove and later at Beacon Baptist in Niles, touching lives with her warmth and grace. Alice’s nurturing spirit extended beyond her family to all those she met, making her a cherished member of her congregation and community.
Alice’s legacy is carried on by her devoted husband, Ronald; her loving children, Amy (Alan) Carson, Ronald (Lynn) Brown, Jr., Richard (Kimberly) Brown, and Robert (Ysa) Brown; her brothers, Richard (Donna) Simonson, Eric (Sandy) Simonson, and Russell (Lonnie) Simonson; her eighteen grandchildren; and her twenty-five great-grandchildren, all of whom will miss her deeply.
Known for her selflessness, Alice was the epitome of a loving, faith-filled soul. She accepted Jesus Christ as her peronal Savior and strived to introduce everyone she met to Jesus. She was a dedicated wife, a nurturing mother, and a doting grandmother. Her ability to make anyone feel loved and her kindhearted nature were her defining traits. Alice possessed a rare talent in the kitchen, where she could create delectable dishes that warmed the heart as much as they pleased the palate. Her flower garden was a colorful reflection of her inner beauty, with hibiscus plants that bloomed as vibrantly as her spirit.
Alice’s love extended to every corner of her life, and she will be remembered for her ability to transform the simplest moments into cherished memories. Her unwavering faith was a source of comfort and inspiration to many, and her selfless acts of kindness left a lasting impression on everyone she encountered.
In her final days, Alice was surrounded by the love and prayers of her family, who take solace in the knowledge that her legacy of love and faith will continue to flourish in the lives of those she touched. Her memory will be treasured like the most exquisite hibiscus in her beloved garden, a reminder of the beauty and resilience that defined her life.
