Linda L. Rockwell, 83, of Cassopolis, died peacefully Friday morning, July 12, 2024.
Her life began March 25, 1941 in Fremont, Ohio, the older of two daughters born to Howard and Betty Church. She married her high school sweetheart James Michael “Mike” Rockwell Dec.16, 1961 in North Baltimore, Ohio.
Linda spent most of her younger years in North Baltimore, Ohio and graduated Valedictorian of the 1959 class of North Baltimore High School. She attended Toledo Hospital School of Nursing until she chose marriage. Mike and Linda married and moved to southwestern Michigan where they raised their family. Linda started a business designing dried and silk floral arrangements. Her work still adorns homes to this day.
A loving wife, mother, and grandmother, Linda loved spending time with her family at the lake. She was active in Disciples of Christ of St. Joseph, Stevensville United Methodist Church, and then First United Methodist Church of Dowagiac. She lived her love of Jesus through Christian education, missions, and visual arts. Linda was deeply involved in the fiber arts community, leading the Weavers Guild for a number of years.
Linda will be greatly missed by family and friends. She is survived by her husband of sixty-two years, Mike Rockwell of Cassopolis; one son, Todd (Christina) Rockwell of Holly, Michigan; one daughter, Dawn (James) Weingart of Elkhart, Indiana; four grandchildren, Michael Rockwell, Jessica Rockwell, Cristopher Weingart, Geneva Weingart; one sister, Judith (Dwight) Stickney of Granite Bay, California; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and infant granddaughter, Angela Rockwell.
Family and friends will gather Tuesday, July 23, 2024 from 5 p.m. until time of service at 7 p.m. in Wagner Family Funerals Connelly Chapel, 202 North Broadway Street, Cassopolis.
Linda will be laid to rest in Old Maplewood Cemetery in North Baltimore, Ohio.
The family prefers contributions in memory of Linda be made to Grace Children’s Hospital of Port-au-Prince, Haiti, via the website, www.gracecare.life.
