Feb. 25, 1948-May 23, 2024
Iva Dean Gentry, 76, of Cassopolis, formerly of Hamilton, Ohio, died peacefully May 23, 2024, in the comfort of her family’s presence.
Her life began Feb. 25, 1948, in Hazard Kentucky the fifth of five children born to Nora Irene and Claude Smith.
Iva was active and loved to dance especially with her grandchildren. When the weather was nice, she was known to always be outside. She liked to garden and go fishing. Big Boy was her favorite restaurant and liked to visit often. Her favorite thing to do was to spend time with her family. She loved her dogs, her favorite being Buster who she is with right now in heaven. Iva worked for General Motors for 30 years as crane operator and inspector. She made many good friends and they called themselves the posse.
Iva will be greatly missed by family and friends. She is survived by daughter, Lisa Michelle (Shawn) Dyer of Cassopolis; four grandchildren, Zak, Madi, Dylan and Mason; brother, Lloyd Smith, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Clara Bell Ruhl, Shirley Ann Partin; brother, William Ray Smith and her dog Buster.
Family and friends will gather Friday, June 7, 2024 from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. in Wagner Family Funerals Connelly Chapel, 202 North Broadway Street, Cassopolis with her service at 6 p.m.
