We are in the heart of election season.  With so many national issues at the forefront, we need to be sure to remember the local issues that affect people right here in Cass County.

On Aug. 4, Cass County residents can vote on the renewal Millage Proposition for Services to Older People.  I hope that you will join me and vote “yes.”  The millage provides 65 percent of the Cass County Council on Aging’s operating income.  These funds directly support seniors in our community with many essential programs, like Handy Helpers, which builds wheelchair ramps for those in need at no cost to the homeowner; Meals on Wheels; medical transportation to out-of-county appointments; Medicare and Medicaid counseling; and much, much, more.

The Cass County COA helped seniors stay home, stay safe throughout the pandemic by delivering more than 15,000 hot and frozen meals at little or no cost to area seniors.  The COA goes the extra mile to keep older adults happy, healthy and engaged in our community.

The millage makes a huge difference in the lives of area seniors.  Please join me at the polls and vote “yes” to the COA’s renewal Millage Proposition for Service to Older Citizens on Aug. 4.
