EDWARDSBURG — The Edwardsburg Lions Club each year gives out scholarships to Edwardsburg seniors in the amount of $500m but this year, due to COVID-19, there was no awards ceremony.
The school has made every effort possible to make sure the seniors still get their awards and scholarships by putting a link to the Senior Honors Video available to all the students and parents, said Lions officials. It was on this video that the Edwardsburg Lions’ Herbert L. Stiffler Scholarship was awarded to four seniors: Tyler Dahms, Mason Marazita, Claire Bartz and Zachary Strycker.
“These students were all very deserving students that proved they could do well in school, sports and even offer community service in some form or another either in our community, their church, our school with mentoring, volunteering with summer sports for Little League and many other ways of helping others to make a difference which also enriched their own lives,” said Lion Tanda Stiffler. “The Edwardsburg Leo Club was involved with the Knights of Columbus during the school year and the Leos just loved helping at the dinners offered to our community. Because of this, the Knights donated funds to the Leo Club so that two scholarships could be given to two Leos as well. It was with great pleasure to award two Leo seniors Tyler Dahms and Mason Marazita. Both Leo members put in lots of community service hours and the Lions are hoping this will help shape them to become community service oriented in their future.”
