Dec. 15, 1958 — June 2, 2020

Antoinette “Toni” Beaman, 61, of Niles, passed away at Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph on Tuesday June 2, 2020.

Toni was born on Dec. 5, 1958, in Niles, to Eugene and Viola (Linback) Sobecki.

Toni worked for many places, including Pete’s Southside Marathon, as a Home Health Aid and as an Activity Aid at West Woods of Niles. She loved her job at West Woods as it allowed her to share her love and compassion with many people. She brought smiles to many faces.

Toni loved to cook large meals. She would often make a large amount of food and invite people over after the fact to enjoy it.

In her later years, she would swap meals with her neighbors so that the meal the following day was her neighbor’s leftovers. She loved gardening and crafts and was in a band when she was younger. She was raised Catholic and in her later years watched Dr. Stanley and Joyce Meyers.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her granddaughter, Corissa; and her nephew, Raymond Oppelt.

Toni will be remembered by her daughter, Michaelle (Ron Taylor) Devreese, of Niles; siblings, James (Rose) Ballinger, of Texas, Patricia Oppelt, of South Bend, Jane Ballinger, of Indiana, Viola (Richard) Lary, of Niles and John (Wendy) Sobecki, of Niles; and she loved all of her nieces and nephews very much: James Ballinger Jr., Michael Ballinger, Jamie Hickner, Steven Hickner, Jennifer Shadix, Krystal Lary, Tasha Lary, Saranda Musser, Brandon Vankirk, Sarah and Stephanie Disch, and Joseph Vankirk.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, June 9, 2020, at Brown Funeral Home in Niles. Visitation will be at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, June 9, 2020.
