Fay A. Walter, 87, of Niles, passed away at West Woods, of Niles, on Thursday, May 21, 2020.

Fay was born on Oct. 20, 1932, to the late Emerick and Joy (Livengood) VanLue, in Niles. She was one of five children.

On Christmas Eve, in 1954, Fay wed the love of her life, Clifford Walter, at a ceremony in Buchanan. The two have enjoyed more than 65 years of marriage.

She had a love for books, garage sales and camping with family and friends. She loved baking, especially her sugar cookies, and would give them out as gifts on occasions like Christmas. Fay also loved her flower gardens. She spent many enjoyable days in her gardens and shared them with all flower lovers.

Fay was a member of the Pokagon United Methodist Church for many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Emerick and Joy VanLue; and her siblings, Donald VanLue, Arleen Kirk and Norma Bartak.

Fay is survived by her husband, Clifford Walter; sister, Janet Reed, of Niles; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

The family would like to thank all the staff at West Woods of Niles for the wonderful care she received during her time there.

Fay will be laid to rest at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens in a private ceremony. Pastor William Walters will be officiating.
