CASSOPOLIS — The Village of Cassopolis did not have its annual Memorial Day Parade on Monday, but it felt it was important to still have services at Prospect Hill Cemetery.

A small group of community members attended the services performed by the Cassopolis Veterans of Foreign Wars William E. Lozier Post 10704.

Also participating were Miss Cassopolis Kaitlyn Hartsell and her court, members of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and Daughters of the American Revolution.

The Cassopolis High School band, which usually performs a tribute to the American Armed Forces, was not allowed to attend due to Michigan’s “Stay Home, Stay Safe” orders, but Jaiden Wolfe played taps.

Those attending the services were asked to keep their social distance from one another by Lozier Post Commander Chris Bergen.
