COVID-19 cases, recoveries see increase over the weekend

SOUTHWEST MICHIGAN — Since Friday, COVID-19 cases have risen in southwest Michigan.

As of 3 p.m. Monday, the state of Michigan reported 32,000 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 2,468 deaths. As of Friday, 3,237 Michiganders had recovered from the virus.

Berrien County reported 164 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and eight deaths. Of those cases, 31 to 50 were reported in the 49120 zip code, which includes Niles. Ten to 30 cases were reported in the 49107 zip code, which includes Buchanan. Berrien County also reported that 89 COVID-19 patients had recovered.

Cass County reported 22 cases and one death, while also reporting one recovery as of Friday.

Van Buren County reported 33 cases and two deaths. As of Friday, the county had seen seven recoveries.
