Jean Day, 97, of Sullivan, Indiana, previously of Niles, passed to her rest on Thursday, April 16, 2020, at Miller’s Merry Manor in Sullivan.

In Dowagiac, on July 5, 1922, Jean was born to the late Myrle and Fayetta (Morton) Curtis.

Shortly after graduating from high school, Jean married Russell Frederick Day at a ceremony in St. Joseph, Michigan on June 7, 1941, and celebrated 45 years of marriage together.

She was preceded in passing by her father, Myrle Curtis, her mother, Fayetta Curtis-Deane, her husband, her son Robert Day, her sister, Barbara Fisher, and her step-brother Robert Duncan.

Jean will be missed by her children, Terry Goodman-James and her husband Tommy of Tennyson, Indiana; Donna Goodman-Kleckner of Sullivan, Indiana; Sharlyne Clothier and her husband Mark of Battle Creek; Pamela Day of Sullivan, Indiana. She is also survived by her six grandchildren, Shanna Donat, Jeff Donat and his wife, Lisa, Melissa Day, Sherri Buchanan-Erskine and her husband (Chad), Bobby Day and Dana Brooks, her 17 great-grandchildren, and several great-great grandchildren.

She possessed many different skills; she groomed dogs for years, taught ceramics and was a very talented hand crafter who excelled in sewing and knitting. She was an avid reader and also bowled for many years where she was known as “Foxy Lady”. Jean was a member of Crossroads Community Church in Sullivan, serving in many ways including assisting with community and funeral luncheons. Jean took great pride in her family and also caring for them and also had a soft spot for animals.

Due to the current, unprecedented guidelines limiting public gatherings because of the COVID-19 virus, there will be a private family gathering at Brown Funeral Home and graveside services at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens.
