NILES — With the cancellation of the entire spring sports season, Dowagiac girls soccer coach Chad Davis came up with an idea to honor his seniors.

Leader Publications is passing that idea on to the coaches of the six schools that we cover.

The seniors on each squad will be featured one at a time each Wednesday in what is being called senior spotlight.

Photos of each player should be submitted the Niles Daily Star, either as an individual, or the player with its parents, at scott.novak@leaderpub.com.

Scott Novak, Leader Publications sports editor asks everyone to adhere to social distancing as best as possible while taking photos.

Leader Publications is hopeful that the coaches at Brandywine, Buchanan, Cassopolis, Dowagiac, Edwardsburg and Niles to follow in the footsteps of the Dowagiac soccer program and provide their seniors with this honor.

Activities: I was in football and basketball cheerleading and I play tennis in the spring.

Hobbies: I like to draw, play tennis, hang out with friends and spend time with family.

My favorite tennis memory: Going to state last year, and all of the friendships I have made throughout my 4 years of being on the team.

Future plans: Going to Lake Michigan College to major in photography/arts.

Awards/Accomplishments: First place at a marching band competition at Lakeshore, captain of this year’s tennis team, placed fifth in the state last year for tennis, undefeated in conference and regional with my partner the last two years, and back-to-back top 10 finishes as a team at the state finals.

Advice to underclassmen: Get involved with sports. It will be one of the best things you could have of done in high school.

How have you been making the best of being quarantined? I have been drawing a lot, playing games, spending time with my family and talking to friends as much as I can.
