Irene passed away unexpectedly Monday at 8:45 p.m. at Memorial Hospital with her daughter Linda by her side.

She moved from Seabring, Florida to South Bend four years ago, but was from Niles.

Her family includes her brother, Howard B. Killarney; her daughters, Linda Alicea (Juan), the late Shari Dobrick, Karen Mies (Perry), Jean Wetherington; and her adopted daughter, Peggy Ott.

She was blessed with seven grandsons, Jayson Frederick (Cara) who was also her caregiver, Jerimi Stingel (Melissa), Joey Dobrick (Ivonna), Jesse Meis (Kayla), Travis Mies (Ditiana), Ryan Wetherington (Alyssa) and Trevor Wetherton (Ashley); and nine great-grandchildren, Tyler, Haley, Mariha and Albree Stingel, Dreick Dobrick, Madden, Bentlie and Everett Mies and Camden Wetherington.

There will be no service. Cremation will take place at Alfords and a celebration of life will be held later, due to her wishes.
