Joyce M. Kindig, 88, of Cassopolis, passed away on Monday, March 9, 2020, at her home, with her loving family by her side.

Joyce was born in Dowagiac, on June 2, 1931, to the late Kenneth and Florence (Wilson) Cooper. She graduated from Dowagiac Central High in 1949.

On Feb. 12, 1972, she wed Richard “Wayne” Kindig at the courthouse in Cassopolis. Joyce was a wonderful homemaker. She enjoyed sewing, gardening and making afghans, but most of all she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her daughter-in-law, Dee Dee Burling.

Joyce is survived by her husband, Richard Kindig, of Cassopolis; children, Dr. Charles (Kathy) Burling, Robert (Debbe) Burling, Diane (Pat) Harding, Thomas Burling, and Linda (Rodger) Sims, all of Dowagiac; 15 grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren; along with a sister, Elsie (Joe) Gaideski, of Brooksville, Florida.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 12, 2020, at Mission Hills Memorial Chapel in Niles. A time of visitation will begin one hour prior to the service.
