BUCHANAN — Author Andrea Wulf, fresh off a lecture at the Smithsonian American Art Museum in Washington, D.C., will speak at Fernwood Botanical Garden and Nature Preserve.

She recently released her book, “The Invention of Nature: Alexander Von Humboldt’s New World.” Her speech is about the scientist and explorer her book is based on, who has more things named after him than anyone else.

Wulf presents from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday, March 22 at the gardens’ Sims Education Center, 13988 Range Line Road #9020, Buchanan. The lecture is $40, $32 for members and free for students with student ID.

A reception with Wulf will be for Plym-level Fernwood members from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Alan Robandt Antique, Vintage, & Modern, 114 E. Front St., Buchanan.

Reservations are required for lecture and reception.

Those who were unable to read “The Invention of Nature” can purchase the book at the event or can join Fernwood’s Book Club for a discussion on it March 21.
