Dowagiac rallies to win third straight game

DOWAGIAC — Senior Trae Brookins scored 31 points as host Dowagiac rallied from a three-point halftime deficit to defeat Berrien Springs 76-48 in a non-conference boys basketball game Tuesday night.

The Chieftains trailed the Shamrocks 27-24 at halftime, but rallied to outscore Berrien Springs 23-4 in the third quarter to take command of the contest.

Brookins finished with 13 points in the pivotal third quarter. He would finish with six rebounds, five steals and four assists as the Chieftains wrapped up the home portion of their season.

The win was the third straight since Dowagiac had its seven-game winning streak snapped by Edwardsburg.

The Wolverine Conference South Division leading Chieftains head to Three Rivers for its final division game Friday night.

Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.

Bridgman at Buchanan

Visiting Bridgman overcame a 41-39 deficit after three quarters to defeat host Buchanan 55-51 in a key BCS Athletic Conference Red Division contest Tuesday night.

The Bucks trailed 21-15 after one quarter, but grabbed a 30-25 halftime lead after holding the Bees to four points in the second quarter.

Chris Young scored a game-high 25 points in a losing effort for the Bucks, who also got 12 points from Logan Carson and 10 points from Gavin Fazi.

Bridgman was led by Jackson Schmaltz and Hunter Adams, both of whom scored 11 points.
