We all make many decisions every day. We desire to make good choices, but many times, we discover that what we chose was not best.

Somebody said, “Assumption is the lowest form of knowledge.” How many times do we decide on something that was based on assuming something that was not true?

They say, “Ignorance is bliss,” but is it? Assumption and ignorance are ranked together near the bottom of rational thought.

So, if you are not sure, you should research. Find the best facts you can; search for the truth. Now, we all know about Google. Google is probably the largest source of information on the planet today. Think about this: everything on Google was put there by somebody. Google could be filled with assumptions. What is a step beyond Google?

Empirical data is a step beyond Google. Google may present empirical data, but you are never sure. Empirical data is data that has been proven to be true. It is not influenced by opinion or bias. Empirical data is developed on real experimentation and actual results.

There is a lot of empirical data that we experience every day. Gravity is one. Day and night is another. We know wet, and we know dry. We know warm, and we know cold. There are areas of life where this basic data does not help us much. We could be warm and dry and be shivering in our soul.

Of all areas where empirical data is most beneficial is our inner being — our soul. “Soul talk” must lead to “God talk.” Once you are past what you are sensing physically, you must find something solid to anchor to.

What about God? Is there any empirical data about Him? Not exactly. We do not know anybody who has seen Him. We do not know anybody who has heard Him speak audibly. We know many who claim those things, but it would be best to have some personal discovery. At this point, it does not make any difference what you think about God, so hang on.

There is a book about God called the Bible. The Bible talks about God and is actually “God talk.” God says in His book about Himself, near the middle of the book, in what is called Jeremiah, chapter 29, verse 13, “You will seek Me and find Me when you seek Me with all your heart.” That is a promise from God Himself. Whether you believe in God or not at this point, why not take the challenge? You have nothing to lose and everything to gain. Gather some empirical data on your own. If God promises to reveal Himself to you as a seeker, would you be worse off than you are now?

We could find the testimony of thousands who have made this “God” search. Every one of them came to the same conclusion if they followed the rules of wholehearted searching. They found God. They have personal empirical data. They cannot prove it to anybody else, but they know that they know.
