BUCHANAN — Kaleb Steakley, of Buchanan, was the only first-team All-BCS Red Division local selection.

Steakley was named to the team as a defender.

Red Division champion Berrien Springs dominated in the all-league squad with six first-team selections. Bridgman had four players named to the first team, while Comstock had one player selected.

Brandywine’s Nicholas Needham was named honorable mention as a goalkeeper, while teammates Andrew Shadler, Jacob Sherrick and Bryce Taberski were also honorable mention selections.

Logan Grwinski and Erving Cruz, of Buchanan, were named honorable mention as well. Grwinski had six goals, and Cruz seven goals.

“Kaleb does not have any stats as he was a defender the entire season,” said Buchanan coach Russell Philip. “Without Kaleb, we would not have been able to stay in any game. He was one of the most important players when it came to speed and protection in the backfield. He was the captain of our team and led from the back as we had a very young team this year.”
