Edwardsburg reaches postseason, will defend state championship

EDWARDSBURG — Twenty and counting.
The Edwardsburg Eddies won their 20th consecutive football game Friday night as it routed visiting Plainwell 52-3 on homecoming night.
With the win, the Eddies qualify for the postseason and a chance to defense their state championship.
Edwardsburg (6-0) led 8-0 after one and 24-0 at halftime. The Eddies outscored the Trojans 28-3 in the second half.
The three points given up in the fourth quarter were the first allowed by the Edwardsburg defense since the season-opener against Dowagiac.
Mac Gaideski ran for 177 yards and three touchdowns, while Drew Bidwell added 93 yards.
Also scoring for the Eddies were Jackson Hoover, Conner Ostrander and Noah Tinkham.
Edwardsburg finished the night with 545 yards of total offense, including 487 on the ground.
The Eddies held Plainwell to 24 yards of total offense.
Edwardsburg heads to Three Rivers for its next Wolverine Conference game Friday night.
