Kathy A. Mansfield, 69, of Niles, passed at her summer home in Jones, on Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2019, following an illness.

Kathy was born May 25, 1950, in Niles, to John and Dorothy (Neese) McLaughlin.

She graduated from Niles High School, class of 1968. Kathy wed Gary P. Mansfiled at a ceremony, in Niles, on May 23, 1992.

She worked for Fapco, Inc. in Buchanan for many years. She also spent several years working for PrintCo, the Niles Daily Star and bartending at the American Legion.

In her free-time, Kathy enjoyed puzzles, word searches and was an avid Notre Dame and NASCAR fan. She also liked to relax and watch “NCIS.”

Kathy loved her family and her place of solitude in Jones, Michigan.

She was a member of the Niles Amvets Post 1978, the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Gateway City Aerie #2094 in Niles, the lady’s auxiliary to the American Legion LaRue Messinger Post #26 in Niles and later transferring her membership to the Constantine American Legion Post 223.

She is preceded in death by her father, John McLaughlin, and a grandson, K.C. Davis.

Kathy is survived by her husband, Gary Mansfield, of Niles; her mother, Dorothy McLaughlin, of Niles; her children, William “Bill” McGill Jr., of Niles, Anne (Kevin) Davis, of Niles, Peggy (Brian) Paturalski, of Plant City, Florida; her step-children, Kim Mansfield, of Dover, Pennsylvania and Matt (Gwen) Mansfield, of York, Pennsylvania; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister, Patricia Dockery, nephew, Damian (Ashley) Dockery, of Wheaton, Illinois.

In keeping with Kathy’s wishes, her family will have a visitation from 1 to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2019, Brown Funeral Home.

The family invites everyone to join them at 2:30 p.m. at the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Niles to share memories and celebrate Kathy’s life.
