Bridgman snaps Brandywine’s conference win streak

BRIDGMAN — The host Bees defeated Brandywine 3-1 in BCS Athletic Conference play Wednesday night.

Bridgman defeated the Bobcats 23-25, 25-18, 25-17 and 25-20.

It was the Bobcats’ first BCS loss since they were defeated by Comstock in 2016.

Kylie Myers returned to the Brandywine lineup and finished the night with 16 kills. Bethany Duval and Kristen Alvord added 12 and 10 kills respectively.

The Bobcats will compete in a tournament in Bloomingdale on Saturday.

Edwardsburg soccer

EDWARDSBURG — Host Edwardsburg capped its 2019 Wolverine Conference season with a 3-1 win over Sturgis Wednesday night.

Alex Carfi, Aaron Toms and Anthony Castelucci all scored goals for the Eddies. Silas Krueger had the assist on the Carfi goal.

The Eddies host Niles in the Division 2 district opener at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Brandywine soccer

BRIDGMAN — Visiting Brandywine and Bridgman were deadlocked at 1-1 at halftime, but the Bobcats could not keep the Bees off the scoreboard in the second half.

As a result, Brandywine dropped a 2-1 decision to Bridgman in BCS Athletic Conference action Wednesday.

Andrew Schadler scored the lone goal for the Bobcats, who face host Dowagiac their the Division 3 district soccer opener on Wednesday.

Brandywine tennis

The Brandywine tennis team defeated visiting Bronson 6-2 on Tuesday.

The Bobcats won three out of four singles and doubles flights to improve to 6-5-3 on the year.

Five out of Brandywine’s six flight victories game in straight sets. Bronson forfeited at No. 4 doubles.
