PLAINWELL — A delay of nearly 24 hours was not enough to keep visiting Dowagiac from improving its Wolverine Conference football record to 3-2 on Saturday.

The Chieftains led 6-0 Friday night when the game with host Plainwell was postponed until Saturday afternoon due to thunderstorms.

Dowagiac picked up where it left off Saturday afternoon and defeated the Trojans 25-14.

De’Ondray Henry and the Chieftain special teams picked up yet another touchdown as he returned a first-quarter punt 86 yards for a touchdown.

Dowagiac also scored on an 11-yard run by D.J. Lanier. The Chieftains failed on both extra-point attempts, but still led 12-8 heading into the second quarter.

DaShawn Brooks hauled in one of two Cailyn Murphy passes for a touchdown. This one covered five yards, while Murphy also connected with Alex McIntosh in the fourth quarter for a 25-yard touchdown to cap the scoring.

No individual statistics are available at press time.

Dowagiac travels to Otsego Friday night. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:15 p.m.
