Niles resident makes college Dean’s List

NILES — Rachel l. Mackey, of Niles, made the University of Minnesota Twin Cities’ Dean’s List for the 2019 spring semester.

Mackey, a 2017 Niles High School graduate, completed at least 12 letter-graded credits while attaining a 3.66 grade point average.

Mackey was a senior at the university’s medical school when she made the Dean’s List.

Fundraiser to support military families

BUCHANAN — From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. this Saturday, visitors of Ma’s Homemade Treats at 12615 Cleveland Ave. in Buchanan will have the chance to help military families.

Operation Homefront, a national charity with local chapters that support military families, will host a bake sale. All proceeds will go to the organization.
