Man shot multiple times in parking lot at Berrien Woods

NILES TOWNSHIP — A 32-year-old Niles resident was shot multiple times at Berrien Woods Apartments early Sunday morning, according to the Berrien County Sheriff’s Department.

Berrien County Road Patrol and Michigan State Police were dispatched at 12:25 a.m. to the 900 block of Woods Edge Drive — near the entrance of the apartment complex — on a report of several gunshots and an individual who was possibly injured.

The victim was allegedly standing outside of a vehicle in the parking lot when he was approached by unknown individuals in an unknown vehicle and shot multiple times in the legs and buttocks.

The victim was transported by SMCAS Ambulance to Memorial Hospital in South Bend, where he underwent surgery for his injuries and is listed in stable condition. His injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.
