SOUTH BEND — Life on the LPGA Symetra Tour is a series of stops around the country, staying with a new host family every week and staying mentally tough when it is time to start playing, but there is also time to enjoy the sights of the various communities that they play in and do some shopping, according to Holly Clyburn from Grismsby, England and Amy Boulden of Llandudno, Wales.

“It is a bit different for every player,” Clyburn said. “Most weeks, Monday is a travel day, and then we really begin preparation on a Tuesday by going to the golf course in the morning or the afternoon. Normally a pro-am is Wednesday or Thursday if you are in it.”

The closer the players get to Friday and the start of each tournament, the more focused they become.

“There is a build-up working for [Friday],” Clyburn said. “You are just fine tuning everything. Obviously, you have seen the golf course, so you are just mapping out what your game plan is and you are just getting ready for round one.”

Once the players are “settled,” they need to find distractions away from the course to fill their remaining time.

“We like to go for manicures and pedicures,” laughed Bouldon.

“You will review your round when you come in off the golf course,” Clyburn said. “You will usually go to the range for a cool-down or do some putting and then go back to the house and switch off golf, to be honest.”

Boulden has played nine out of the 10 weeks her first year on the tour. So, what has been her favorite spot?

“I like it when we were in Florida, actually,” she said. “There were a lot more shopping malls. They have all been unique and different.”

Clyburn entered the final round on Sunday in the top 20, while Boulden was in the top 50.

Canadian Maddie Szeryk, Perrine Delacour, of France, and American Jillian Hollis were tied atop the leader board as they teed off.

Hollis, who is No. 5 on the Volvik Race for the Card money list, was hoping that her experience of winning the IOA Championship in March, her first Symetra Tour victory, would help during the final round.

Amateur Alexa Pano was also in the mix, as she entered Sunday just two strokes back at 2-under par.
