NILES — The Niles District Library seeks to build a community of lifelong learners who want to make Niles their lifelong home. A library card is not required to participate in any programs. All programs are free.

Wednesday, June 5
• 9:30 a.m. — Squealers
This activity is ideal for babies between birth and 18 months, this lapsit program for babies and their caregiver’s features: a fingerplay, song, board book, and 10 minutes of baby play and bubbles.
• 10 a.m. — Squeakers
This activity is ideal for kids ages 18 months-3 years, this transitional storytime is for little ones who are in the in-between baby and toddler stage. This will be a short storytime with 1 book, a fingerplay, and a song. We will end with bubbles. We will work on skills like sitting quietly, listening to a story independently, and following directions.
• 10:30 a.m. — Squigglers
This activity is ideal for kids ages 18 months to 5-years-old, this storytime program is structured like the beginning of a preschool class. We do calendar, letter of the day, and a color song, with two books and music and movement.
• 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. — Storytime
For kids ages three and up, this storytime features three books, a color song, and music and movement. The program will end with a hand stamp, coloring sheet, and a craft.
Happy Destiny Support Group 7 p.m. Open A.A. meetings are available to anyone interested in the program or recovery.
Thursday, June 6
• 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. — Storytime
For kids ages three and up, this Storytime features three books, a color song, and music and movement. The program will end with a hand stamp, coloring sheet, and a craft.
• 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. — American Mahjong
Volunteers are available weekly to teach you how to play Mahjong.
• 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. — Teen Time
We have games, books, and a great place to study here in the Teen Department. Teens ages 12 to 19, are always welcome to come and hang out anytime, but during teen time, we have snacks!
• 6 p.m. — Chips and Chapters
This is a fun, new, read-aloud Storytime. Every Thursday, Ms. Tara will read aloud from a chapter book while you eat chips and follow along. This is fun for all ages.
Lego Building Challenge: 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Compete in the weekly Lego challenge. Your beautiful creation will be placed on display.
Friday, June 7
• 10 a.m. to noon — TOPS
Take Off Pounds Sensibly (TOPS) is a nonprofit, noncommercial weight-loss support group and wellness education organization. New members are welcome.
• 1 to 3 p.m. — Twisted Stitches
Bring your yarn or sewing project and enjoy a cup of coffee or tea while you chat and work. Rookies are welcome. David is here to provide help and instructions, and we have a few loaner tools to get you started if you need them.
Saturday, June 8
• 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. — Gamer Space
Attention Gamers. Do you and a group of friends play some form of a card game or tabletop game but you need a space to play. You can bring your game or try one of ours from the “Library of Things.” We provide the tables and chairs.
• 10:30 to 11 a.m. — Toddler Dance Party
This musical program is aimed for toddlers to help strengthen the little brain and body muscles. We will use music to reinforce hand eye coordination, cross brain exercises, and tactile and sensory movements. This program is for ages birth to 5-years-old.
• 1 to 5 p.m. — Game Day for Adults
If you are 18 or older and like video games or board games, join us for Game Day for adults from 1 to 5p.m. We have board games, cards, tabletop games, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii U games set up and ready for you to enjoy! Feel free to bring your own too.
• 1 to 2 p.m. — Jr. Garden Club
Each month, Ms. Ann will present a lesson on gardening and nature. There will also be a snack, and a craft connected with the topic. This group is for ages three to 12-years-old.
