Doris Lee “Lady Ashley” Ashley, 91, of Cassopolis, passed away on Thursday, May 30, 2019, at Lakeland Hospital in Niles.
A Celebration of Life Service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 4, 2019, at Clark Chapel, 405 Center St., Dowagiac, with Pastor John McClimans officiating. Burial will follow at Mission Hills Cemetery in Niles. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, from noon until the time of service Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Doris’ name may be made to the Cass County Council on Aging. Those wishing to leave a condolence online may do so at clarkch.com.
Doris was born June 18, 1927, in Dalton, Georgia to Frank and Leona (Trout) Dixon. She married James Ashley on Nov. 26, 1966, in Elkhart. Doris worked as a Doctors Assistant for Dr. Koudele’s office for many years before her retirement. She was known as a fun and loving person who everyone wanted to be around. Most of all she loved her family, and she will be missed by all who knew her.
Doris is survived by her children, Linda Paulus, Sherry Luttrell and Debbie (Michael) Ashcroft; grandchildren, Darin Burns, Danette Marble, Katrina McClimans, Melissa Butler, Shawn Jiles, Jack Jiles Tai Barger and Kimberly Miller; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband James Ashley; son, Michael Fitts; brothers, Walter Dixon, Warren Dixon, Andy Dixon, Leonard Dixon and Pual Dixon and former husband, Roy Lee Fitts.
