Tuesday, May 28
10 a.m. — SkillShare card making
People are invited to join library officials in the SkillShare workshop downstairs to learn about making seasonal cards on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month. All materials will be provided, but bringing scissors and adhesive would be helpful, officials said.
10:30 a.m. — Passport Pals
Each week there will be books, songs, crafts and other super surprises relating to the country of the month. Participants can also get their passport stamped.
6 p.m. — STEM Stars
This activity is for ages 6 to 12. Meg will teach participants a different STEM topic. This program includes a read-aloud and a science, technology, engineering or math project to work on.
6:30 to 8 p.m. — Olive Branch Book Club
This event will take place at the Brass Eye Cocktail Lounge, 205 N. 2nd St. A book club at a bar? Why not? This club is ideal for those looking for an opportunity to have a drink, mingle and talk about a book. This month’s book is “The Rosie Project” by Graeme Simsion. In June, the group will discuss “To the Edges of the Earth” by Edward Larson.
Wednesday, May 29
9:30 a.m. — Squealers
This activity is for babies birth to 18 months. This lap sit program for babies and their caregivers features: a finger play, song, board book, and 10 minutes of baby play and bubbles.
10 a.m. — Squeakers
This activity is ideal for children ages 18 months to 3 years. This transitional story time is for little ones who are in the in-between baby and toddler stage. This will be a short story time with one book, a finger play and a song. The activity will end with bubbles. The activity will work on skills like sitting quietly, listening to a story independently and following directions.
10:30 a.m. — Squigglers
This activity is for children ages 18 months to 5 years. This story time program is structured like the beginning of a preschool class. Participants will take part in a calendar discussion, letter of the day, and a color song, with two books and music and movement.
11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. — Storytime
This activity is for children ages 3 and up. This story time features three books, a color song, and music and movement. The program will end with a hand stamp, coloring sheet and a craft.
7 p.m. — Happy Destiny Support Group
Open A.A. meetings are available to anyone interested in the program or recovery.
Thursday, May 30
10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. — Storytime Thursdays
This activity is for children ages 3 and up. this story time features three books, a color song, and music and movement. The program will end with a hand stamp, coloring sheet, and a craft.
1 to 4:30 p.m. — American Mahjong
Volunteers are available weekly to teach people how to play Mahjong.
6 to 7:30 p.m. — Teen Time
There will be games, books and a place to study in the teen department. Teens ages 12 to 19, are always welcome to come and hang out anytime, library officials said, but during teen time, there are snacks.
6 p.m. — Chips and Chapters
This is a new, read-aloud story time. Every Thursday, Ms. Tara will read aloud from a chapter book while participants eat chips and follow along. This acitivity is for all ages.
Friday, May 31
10 a.m. to noon — TOPS
Take Off Pounds Sensibly (TOPS) is a nonprofit, noncommercial weight-loss support group and wellness education organization. New members are welcome.
1 to 3 p.m. — Twisted Stitches
People are invited to bring their yarn or sewing project and enjoy a cup of coffee or tea while people chat and work. Rookies are welcome. David will be available to provide help and instructions, and a few loaner tools are available to get people started.
Saturday, June 1
10 a.m. to noon — Chess Club
This is ideal for people who love to play chess or always wanted to learn. All ages and abilities.
10 a.m. to 3 p.m. — Chess Tournament
This Chess Tourney for all members of the National Chess Federation. Boards are available for non-members as well.
10:30 a.m. to noon — Tree Climbers Genealogy Group
People can get started on the journey of uncovering their family history. No experience is required to participate in the TreeClimbers group. Beginners are welcome.
2 p.m. — Social Media: Facebook and Pinterest
Social media is becoming more and more popular with adults. For those who are new to the world of social media, it may seem daunting but it doesn’t have to be. People can join Sarah as she helps demystify two of the most popular social media websites: Facebook and Pinterest. Class space is limited, so people are advised to sign up at the Information Desk, or call (269) 683-8545, ext. 112.
