Niles graduating seniors celebrated with activities leading up to commencement

NILES — To honor and recognize the class of 2019, Niles High School is hosting a variety of celebratory events. The high school has a slate of activities planned for the final weeks leading up to commencement on May 30, including a Scholarship Assembly and Senior Walk. The Senior Walk on May 22 will lead seniors through the halls of the district’s elementary schools, as they inspire younger students and visit former teachers.

The following is a list of upcoming activities:

Scholarship Assembly at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 21 at Niles High School, 1441 Eagle St., in the auditorium

This activity is for Niles High School seniors. Students who have applied for local scholarships will learn if they have been selected for awards during this formal ceremony

Senior Walk — All day Wednesday, May 22 at local elementary schools

This event is for Niles High School seniors and Niles Community Schools elementary students and teachers. Seniors donning caps and gowns will head to the district’s elementary schools for the official senior walk to inspire younger students and visit former teachers

Baccalaureate — 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 29 at the Niles High School auditorium, 1441 Eagle St.

This is a voluntary service for seniors and their parents presented by the Niles Ministerial Association.
